FOR "MESSIAH ’ NEXT WEDNESDAY. Mr. Harold Prescott, the eminent lid canto tenor, who has Deeii engaged by the Palmerston North Choral Society for next Wednesday’s performance of the “Messiah ” conies of a very old-established musical family of Manchester, England. He received his early training at the Manchester School of Music before going to London for a further course of study. Mr. Prescott has sung with a number of famous artists and when Phaser Gauge and Amv Evans were in New Zealand in 1920 they spoke in the highest terms of his interpretative powers and his artistic and conscientious rendering of classicai music. When singing the tenor role in the "Messiah” last year the criticisms were particularly pleasing The Christchurch Sun said: "Mr Harold Prescott needs no recommendation to Christchurch audiences Ho is one of the Dominion’s most cultured vocalists and is thoroughly competent to do honour to am oratorio solo work. Kis singing iasl evening was marked by a deep earnestness, a refined style and excellent vocalisation." Ho also received very high praise from Signor Casolari. the maestro of the Sistiue Choir, for the "excellence of his voice and the manner of production.” Some of Mr. Prescott’s ‘ recent engagements include the operas “Lucia dl Lammcrmoor,” ’Carmen,” and "Faust.” Elgar’s cantata "Caractacus" the "Messiah" “Elijah” and “Merry England” which has been repeated six times.
