ANGLERS’ MEETING

CLUB FORjMED IN FEILDING. A meeting convened by Mr. F. IT. 1 Stockwoll was held on Wednesday I evening - with the object of foimin.g an Anglers’ Club in Feilding. There was a good attendance and the proposal ! was well received. Mr. Stockwell oxp'ained that the idea was to create | more interest in the sport, especially j among young fishermen, with the use of the minnow and fly. He regretted ! that more younger men wore not prei’sent, but ho felt sure that the proposed Club would moot with support once placed on a sound footing. Mr. Stockwoll was elected to the chair and Mr. A. H. Marshall acted as secretary. The following were elected as a temporary committee to draw np rules and regulations for the forming of a Club: —Messrs. B. Currant, F. IT. Stockwell, N. C. Wright, and A. 11. Marshall. In order to ascertain the foeh'ngs of young fishermen, it was decided that a competition for minnow fishing he held on Saturday, December 13, commencing at 2 p.m., in the Oroua river between the Aorang! (and Awahuri bridges, a distance of about 4 miles. The competitors are required to weigh in their catches at 8 o’clock the same night at a place to be notified later. Entries close with Mr. Marshall in the Square at S.SO on Friday night, December 11. The competition is open to any Fci’ding and district license holder and trophies are being given by Messrs. Stockwell and Marshall for the competitor catching the largest, trout and to the one catching the most fish in the time given. Thor c is no entrance fee.
