Carlisle M'Fariane (Napier) took first prize for tho best specimens of coloured embroideries in silk; Miss Agnes M'Pherson (Dannevirke) first prize for the b<fst specimen of Richelieu embroidery; and Mrs P. W. Anderson first prize for the best specimen of Montmellick white embroidery -work. A special award was given to Miss E. C. Monro (Palmerston North) for an embroidered picture in human hair, which depicts a little girl and a dog in a pretty landscape setting, with a country cottage in the middle distance. This picture is -wonderfully dainty, looking like one of the finest etchings. Miss Monro also exhibits two beautiful needlework pictures in coloured silks a lovely old-fashioned flower garden and a little girl with a basket o£ flowers.
