SESSIONS AT GISBORNE. [Per Press Association.] GISBORNE, Last Night. At the Supremo Court, before Mr. Justice Reed, the four days’ trial of Alfred James McGregor on a charge of sheep-stealing at Hangaroa was brought to a conclusion, the jury returning a verdict of not guilty and accused was discharged. Charles Croon was charged with carrying on the business of a bookmaker at the Ruatorea races. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty Accused was discharged. A young native, named Wiremu Turei Hauiti, was charged with carnal knowledge or alternatively with indecent assault on a girl under' sixteen years of age. The jury, after a retirement of ten minutes, returned a ver diet of guilty of indecent assault, and the prisoner was remanded for sen. tence. INVER CARGILL CASES. INVERCARGILL, Last Night. George Francis Hughes, on a charge of aggravated assault, was acquitted. Edward John Kenedy, on a. charge of 'carnal Jtnowle’dge .of a- girl under sixteen, was convicted and remanded £er sentence.
