There has been no case of bank ruptcy in Waipukurau this year, and for the second year in succession U promises to have a clean sheet in this respect. A system of savings bank letters of credit came into operation on December' 1. The system provides that a savings bank depositor in New Zealand requiring funds at any one or more of me principal places in New Zealand at which there are branches of the Post Office Savings Bank may purchase a letter of credit for a sum not exceeding £SO. The holder can present the letter of credit at any oI the various offices and obtain such moneys as ho may require within the limits authorised.
