ST. PAUL’S SUNDAY SCHOOL
ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY. Following a tea earlier in the evening ,the prize-giving ceremony in connection with St. Paul’s Methodist Sunday School was held last night, when a pleasant time was spent by the large gathering present. In addition to the presenting of the prizes songs and elocutionary items given by the made the function a bright and happy one. Mr C. H. Stiles, superintendent oi the Sunday School, presided and haride the reward for the year’s work to each boy and girl. Mr E. Lock, secretary of the school, presented the annual report and balance sheet, which showed a good credit balance, and the school to be in a flourishing condition generally. During the evening the Rev. M. A. Rugby Pratt took the opportunity of tendering the thanks of the Church to the officers and teachers for their fine work during the past year. The prize-winners are as follows: —
Girlsi—Flrst class: Constance Bennett, ' Christine Laurenson; second class: Molly Thompson, Nora Ainsworth; third class: Ada Cresswell, Rena Seward, Betty Amos, Phyllis Spooner; fourth class: Flora Hastings, Dorothy Pratt, Thelma Forrest, Thora Rodden, Elva Morris: fifth class: Muriel Shallor, Lorrie Turner; sixth class: Vivian Gilshnan, Ailocn Ellery, Enid Sinclair, Zoe Maunder, Gwen Whitehead; seventh class: Lilah Elston. Phyllis Rodden. Boys:—First class: Herdroan Endre, Gordon Wilson, John Barnatt; second class: Keith Harris, Brian Bambory, Arthur Pitcher, John Cresswell; third class; Barry Hastings, Albert Rodden, Frank Voss; fourth class: Bruce Allen, William Coiclough, Percy Pitcher, Eric Harris; fifth class; Earl Dodds, Allan Gordon; sixth class: Leonard Pratt, Donald Gordon, Melville Allan, Arthur Cowley, N/.r----man Smith; seventh class: Ken Mason, Douglas Horn. Prizes for maximum marks (presented by Mr G, H. Dennett): Flora Hastings, Earl Dodds. Prizes for helpful service: Herman Endre, John Cresswell, Amola Bycroft Band of Hope Union competition: —first poizes: Edith McConnon, Molly Jones, Kona Field, Clifford Ellery; 2nd. prizes: Delete Berryman, Noeline Barnard, Clifton Duncan. In the musical portion of the programme, songs were contributed bj Noeline Barnard, Delcie Berryman Keith Harris and Molly Jones, a duet by Vida Richards and Keith Harris recitations by Dorothy Prat, Zoe Maunder and Bruce Allen, Nalda Maunder, Lola Smith, Allan Gordon, Thelma Forest, Edith McConnon, Muriel Shailer, Cliff Ellery and Betty Amos; dialogues by the Bible class boys and girls, a novelty "Living •Picture”, a tableau ‘‘Queen of Sheba”, and several choruses, "Lullaby”, “Bubbles,” “Merry Travellers” and “The Rebel” were also given.
