TENNIS, CROQUET AND BOWLS. [From Our Own Correspondent.] A team of tennis players from Shannon visited Foxton yesterday to compote with the local players, and after an enjoyable day’s play, Foxton won by 1G sets and 117 games to 7 sets and 87 games. Detailed results are as follows (Shannon players being mentioned first in each instance): —• Men’s singles: N. Quarrie last to C. Proctor, 2- -6; C. Hunt lost to C. Proctor, o—6; S. Walden lost to N. Bryant was unable to play for Foxton against Shannon, as he received an injury on Tuesday. He was cranking up a car when the handle flew off and struck him in the face, necessitating medical attention. Levin Holds Triangular Shield.

The final round for the triangular bowling shield was played at Levin yesterday, when Levin, the holders, retained • the trophy, gaining 184 points. Shannon was. runner-up with 136; Foxton close behind with 132. Results- —Levin; Sigley, Rontley, Pvke and Suhan (s.), defeated Foxton: Healey, Walton, Walker and Woods (s.), 28—14. Levin: Lamb, Von Hartitsche, Smaill and Bull (s.), ' defeated Foxton: Huntly, Downes, Thomson and Christie (s.). 22—20. Levin: Shannon, Pink, Brown, Clements is.), defeated Shannon: Newton, Thwaitos, B. Spencer and A. Spencer (s.), 23—11. Levin: Monks, Durham, Chalhes and Hawke (s.), defeated Shannon: Butt, Aim, Clayton and Bovis (s.), 17—15. At the conclusion of th e games, Mr. Bovis tendered Blanks on behalf of tho Shannon players, Mr. Walton for Foxton and Mr. Pike for Levin. Croquet. Head, who is taking up residence in Wellington at the end of the week, was farewelled at the croquet club. Mrs. R. Parkes, vice-president, in asking Mrs. Head to accept a bandbag as a token of esteem, said her departure would be a great loss to the club. Not only was she one of the good players, but she was also a splendid working member. On th e club’s behalf, tho vice-president wished her happiness and prosperity in her new home. ~ In returning thanks, Mrs. Head assured the members of a welcome if at any time they should be in Wellington. She said she had had a great deal of pleasure on the green, and she regretted leaving.
