£6OO DAMAGES AWARDED
AGAINST NEW PLYMOUTH COUNCIL. fPer Press Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH. Last Night. Damages totalling £6Ol 16/- wero awarded by a special jury at the Supreme Court to-day in a claim for damages brought by R. S. SmithRichardson against the New. Plymouth Borough Council, arising out of an accident at the electricity supply sub-station In Liardet street on February 23. The jury held that there had been an act of negligence In not cutting off the electric current or in not warning plaintiff of the danger or in not taking proper precautions to safeguard workmen while working on the cubicle where the accident occurred. It acquitted the Council on the allegations of negligence with regard to the plant itself. The claim was for £I6OO.
