Runnymede has been sold to go to Australia, and left Hastings on Wednesday en route for his new home (says “Hermit” in the “Hawke’s Bay Herald”). It is understood that the price which Mr .T. S. McLeod is to receive is a very substantial one indeed, and there are also handsome contingencies attached to the sale. Runnymede should prove a worthy opponent for Manfred. He will, so it is said, carry the colours of one of Australia’s leading sportsmen. Though Mr McLeod was naturally loth to part with his Derby winner, the offer he received was too tempting to turn down, especially as Runnymede is a gelding. Illumination was scratched for the Auckland Cup at 4.35 yesterday afternoon. The ideal Xmas gift is a box of Handkerchiefs, Colllnson and unninghame have 3500 boxes of Ladies' Handkerchiefs for you to select from, priced from 1/3 box of 3 and from 2/6 box of 6. Or if you only require one handkerchief for a gift they have twenty-nine thousand of these for your selection. A tremendous range and wonderful value, but be early and get the best choice. Colllnson and Cunninghame.
