SUNDAY EXCURSIONS
CHEAP TRIPS TO FOXTON BEACH. At yesterday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Chamber of Commerce the statlonmaster (Mr J. J. O’Shea) reported that the Railway department had decided to run Sunday trains to Foxton. The scheme would come into operation December 20, and the ‘express’ would be run at excursion rates. Arrangements had been made with the carriers at Foxton to take the passengers from the station to the beach for one shilling return. The fare on the train would be 4/- first class and 2/9 second class. Should the new venture prove satisfactory there was a possibility of excursion trains being run to Paekakarikl and Plimmerton, but this would not eventuate for some time yet and then would probably be only run on alternate Sundays. The chairman, Mr H, L. Young, stated that ho was sure the new service would be very popular during the summer months and on behalf of the Council, thanked Mr O’Shea for his representations to the Department,
