LANDLORDS ASSAULTED
NTOIEROUS BLACK EYES. ANGRY WOMEN'S FINGER-NAILS. • NEW YORK, November 17. Women, who were present in large numbers at a meeting, showed that, besides their tongues, they could use their hands and feet, not to mention finger-nails, to express disapproval. The meeting ha,j been called for the purpose of amicable discussion among landlords and tenants regarding proposals for notification of the rent law. Housewives became incensed at the obstinate stand taken by propertyowners. and howled them down when they attempted to speak. Words led to blows, and the women had weight of numbers on their side. Many landlords left the hall bleeding from the wounds inflicted by vindinctive finger-nails. Others had black eyes, and bleeding noses were numerous.
