TERRACE END TENNIS CLUB
Assisted by a slight Improvement in the weather conditions of late, the committee has been able to make good progress with the various Club competitions. Keen rivalry is evid-*-ru*Cd for possession of the silver buttons for men’s, ladles and combined doubles. In the men’s doubles Sucker and von Sturmer ucceeded on Saturday last in defeating the first holders, Glendinning and Smith, onij to lose on Tuesday to C, A. Anderson and Cope. Misses M. Jamieson srd H. Litchfield have so far successfully resisted all challenges for die ladies doubles, while Seeker and Miss Pitt after holding the mixed doubles buttons since the opening tournament went down to Smith and Miss M. Webster, who are the present holders.
The ladder competitions are now in full swing and members are requested to play as many matches as possible, in view of the forthcoming in-ter-club matches. 1
The match against the Hinemoa Club (Dannevirke; on Saturday next has been fixed to” commence at 1.30 p.m., weather permitting. Members and their friends are reminded that a flannel dance will be held in the pavilion on Saturday evening at 8 o’clock and a cordial invitation to attend is extended to members of other clubs. It is intended io hold similar dances periodically.
