MANGLED BEYOND RECOGNITION
MAN’S BODY FOUND IN TUNNEL. LATER IDENTIFIED AS CAYERSHAM RESIDENT. [Per Press Association.] DUNEDIN, Last Night. A shocking fatality occurred on the South railway line early this evening, when a man was run down by a train in the Caversham tunnel and killed instantly. The body appeared to have been carried along by two following trains and it was mutilated beyond all recognition. Later, it was found tlTat James Rutledge had been missing from Ms home in Caversham since 4 p.m The police have reported that Rutledge was the victim of the fatality.
