SIXTH DAY OF ASSEMBLY. [Per Press Association,] DUNEDIN, Last Night. To.day was the sixth day of the general assembly of the Presbyterian Church. The Church property trustees' report was adopted, also that of the supply and appointments’ committee. The report of the unification of regulations regarding charges was adopted. Considerable discussion took place on the right of call, the proposal of the 'report being adopted after many opinions had been expressed. Deputations were rcclved from all denominations in the city, and wet. comes extended. Members of the New Zealand' Alliance were also pro, sent, addressed the house, and received an enthusiastic promise of support and sympathy. M» D. Calder, representative of the British and Foreign Bible Society, also was received. In the discussion on the temper, ance committee’s, report, emphasis was laid on the need for educating the young in temperance principles, and a determination expressed to carry on the fight. A deliverance adopted, urged on the Government the necessity to intro, duce into schools scientific instruction concerning the effect of alcohol, and urged that in view of legislation to be introduced in the near future, thetr people should impress on members of Parliament the need for a two-issue ballot paper, or for preferential voting.
