Mr H. L. Young is at present on a visit to Dunedin in connection with Overseas Exhibits at the New Ze. land and South Seas Exhibition. At the meeting' of the District Nursing Guild yesterday, a vote of sympathy was passed to Mr. J. A. McLeavey In Sis present illness. Mr J, S. Tingey, a well-known Feilding citizen, whoso attainments include those of a qualified solicitor and a chemist, speaks to-day at the Lunch Club. His subject is—“ The traffic in Drugs’’ (second series). On Wednesday evening, after two days’ illness, there died at Hamilton, Mr. John Turner, well known throughout the Manawatu and King Country. The late Mr. Turner was a traveller for Messrs. John Chambers and Son and was widely respected. Mr R. R. T. Young is Victoria College’s nominee for the second Rhodes scholarship. Mr Young, who was asked to accept nomination by the Students’ Association, is a graduate in science and his spojrts record is a fine one.

On the motion of the Mayor (Mr. A. J. C. Runciman) the Dannevirke Borough Council passed a motion congratulating Mr. E. A. Ransom (a past Mayor) upon his re-election to Parliament .and expressing its thanks for the attention ho had given matters brought before him by the council.
