STOCK SALES.

The Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-opora-Uve Association Ltd., stock department report on the following: sales: — At Eketahuna, on July 9, we offered over 2000 head of all classes of sheep, and about 90 head of cattle. The sheep offering- included some exceptionally good lines of owes in lamb and Purebred Romney ewes which attracted an attendance of buyers from all parts of the Manawatu, Southern Hawke’s Bay, Wairarapa and Bush districts. The demand throughout was exceptionally keen, with the result that record prices were realised, especially for good breeding ewes in lamb' to Southdown. Mr. J. Jewett’s Stud Romney were also keenly competed for. selling at from 2i guineas to 5J guineas. Good dairy heifers and cows met with a good inquiry and a good clearance was also effected in the cattle pens. The' sale throughout, was considered the best ever held in these yards. The following list of sales will indicate values: —152 4, 6 and 4-ycar Romney owes R.W. S.D. ram on account of J. Jewett 48/-; 73 do 44/1; 49 4-year do on account of B. Morris, 43/9; 155 4ycar do on account of F. Ison, 43/-: 47 do, 39/3; 333 do, on account of Alberthson and Mason, 37/-. On account of other vendors: 297 4-ycar do 34/-; 22 do 33/6. Several small lines of aged ewes in lamb made 18/6, 22/- up to 24/5; 29 Romney ewes, r.w. Romney ram 41/6; 50 2-th wethers 306; 78' h.s. woolly lambs (good), 29/-, 126 medium lambs, 21/10; 04 small 2-th. wethers 29/0; 15 2-th Stud Romney ewes r.w. Stud Romney ram, on account of J. Jewett 2Jgns; 36 do 2Jgns; 5 do 3gns; 6 2sboar do, 3gns; 29 do, Signs; 5 do, Signs; 32 3-shoar do 3gns; 5 do, 4i gns; 15 do, 4lgns; 33 4-year do 22 to Signs. Dairy cows at drop to £ll 10/-; springing heifers £5 10/-, £7 5/-, £7 10/- to £7 15/-; backward do £3 15/-, £3 17/6 to £24 12/-; fat cows to £5; rough bullocks £4 16/-. At Carterton. —On July 10, we offered a medium entry of both sheep and cattle, all lines meeting with keen competition and a total clearance effected under the hammer. Wc quote: 116 f.m. ewes r.xn. S.D. rom 33/-: 97' small 2-th wethers, 31/10; 28 m.s. do 32/-; 10 fat b.f. 40/6; 7 fat lambs, 35/-; 5 fat sheep, 31/-; 17 small hoggets, 18/-; 17 light fat cows in lots, £5, £5 15/-, £6 15/- to £7 2/6. Store cows, 36/-, 36/- to £2 2/6; springing heifer, £5 5/-. Messrs Dalgcty and Co. Ltd., Palmerston North, report having a fair entry of sheep and a small yarding of cattle at their Bulls sale on Monday July 13th. It was a particularly rough day. and a number of lines were passed at auction though we effected a total clearance later of all sheep: Quotations; B.f hoggets 24/-; mixed w.f hoggets 28/8; w.f wether hoggets 2 8/-; w.f. ewe hoggets 25/- to 29/-; 4th ewes r.w Romney rams £2 3/-; m.a. ewes 1.1 S.
