The following gifts had been sent for patients:—Old linen, Mrs. H. N. Watson; magazines. Miss Stiles. It was decided to apply for an overdraft of £BOOO until the Board’s levies came to hand.
The managing secretary reported on various matters appertaining to minor improvements at the Hospital. The report of the medical superintendent (Dr. G. A. Forrest) stated that there were 150 patients in Hospital on May 31st. During June ISI were admitted, 171 discharged while 7 had died. There were only 7 cases of infectious disease admitted as follows: —Diphtheria 2, scarlet fever 1, typhoid 1, infantfte paralysis 2, pneumonia 1. During June 108 operations were performed. It had been found necessary to limit the number or patients in certain wards as they were becoming overcrowded. This would mean that at times patients would require to await their turn for admission if their case was not urgent.
