Mr Langstone’s Taste For Invective UNKIND TO CABINET’S “CAPTAIN COOKER.” (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) WELLINGTON, Last Night Mr Langstono (Waimarino) must have got out of the wrong side of the bed this morning, for he began his speech on the Address-in-Reply debate with most violent language. He scolded the Government and the Liberals unmercifully and twice was called to order. Firstly, ho attacked Sir Maul Pomare for his references to the La.bour Party and took him to task for suggesting that it had used words the previous night which were not in the Maori language. “Parawanui” was a case in point. “Well,” said Mr Langstono, “may I ask the Hon. Minister whether ‘mafeesh’ or ‘outski’ are in the English language?” (Laughter). In referring to an objection raised by the Minister to an insulting expression used towards him on a former occasion, Mr Langstono said I that Sir Maui Pomare often made noises worthy of a “Captain Cooker when Labour members were speaking.

I think they have earned the disgust and contempt of every section of the community. “Order!” called Mr Speaker. "I am afraid the hon. member’s language is getting too strong.” "A gigantic fraud, perpetrated on the people by this Tory Government,” was a further phrase which Mr Langi stone was not permitted by Mr Speaker to get away with, but “poliItical necromancers in charge of the Treasury Benches,” was allowed to paSS. - -
