WEDDING.
CHOAVEN—PEARCE. A popular wedding took place in the Colyton Methodist Church on Wednesday, June 17th, the contracting parties being Norman Chowcn, of Aokautere, son of Mr W. Chowen, of Palmerston North, and Nina, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. G. Pearce, of Cleverly, Colyton. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. Mitchell of Feilding. The bride, who was given away by her father, was daintily attired in ivory satin, panelled with pleated georgette, with the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and a bouquet composed of white carnations, azaleas and asparagus fern. The bride was attended by Miss Chowen, sister oi the bridegroom, in a frock of mastic brocaded moracain, with hat to match, She carried a bouquet of shaded pink chrysanthemums, autumn leaves and berries. Two little maids, Jean Sinclair, niece of the bridegroom and Frances Tutty, niece of the bride, were attired in saxe frocks, and black hats, and little Margaret Tutty looking sweet in cream silk and black hat. All carried baskets of pale pink flowers, and scarlet berries. The bridegroom was supported by Mr N. W. Pearce, brother of the bride. The church was tastefully decorated by friends of the bride. After the ceremony, the guests wore entertained at the home of the bride’s parents, when the usual toasts wore honoured. The bride’s goingaway dress was of grey moracain, handsomely embroidered with hat and coat to match, and marabout, the gift of the bridegroom. The bridesmaids received suitable gifts.
The bouquets were the gift of the bride's aunt. Miss Minnie Harris, of Wanganui, A clock was presented to the couple by the congregation of the Colyton Methodist Church, of which Miss Pearce has been organist for the past ten years. The bridal party called on Mrs Tutty, sister of the bride, who is in the Feilding private hospital recovering from a serious operation, and then left by motor car (a wedding present) for the north, where the honeymoon will be spent.
