MANNEQUIN PARADE.

The Premier Drapery Co., may well be congratulated on producing the initial mannequin parade in Palmerston North, and the event last night at the Palace Theatre attracted a largo audience who sat enraptured as creation after creation was displayed. The Mannequins, who were specially trained by Mr W. West, carried out their parts in excellent manner and deserve great praise for the artistic way in which they wore and displayed the gowns. A special background was carried out In black with gold letters to announce the firm, while the setting was completed' with flowers and palms.. Each gown as displayed was described in ticket form from an easel, a quaint touch being given by the smart page boy who manipulated the cards.

The following frocks, all personally selected in Paris by Mr and Miss Wallace, were displayed:—An exquisitely beaded satin evening wrap in black' and silver. This was designed by Le Jeune, and attracted much favourable attention. A tunic gown to tone in gold was worn with it, a handsome creation shown to perfection. Then followed a smart hand embroidered bridge frock in apricot, also by Le Jeune. > This was beautifully displayed, as was also a silk georgette evening gown, charmingly worn, in pale pink, narrow pleating showing at the back. This gown is by Bouet. The succeeding Mannequin wore to perfection a black Laine velvet gown designed by DeS Brueres. Other frocks shown were georgette and gold tunic gown; pale blue silk georgette evening gown, Le Jeune; black silk georgette heavily beaded dinner gown, Des Brueres; silk marocain afternoon frock by Charlaine; black beaded sequin tunic gown,' Le Jeune, and finally a charming silk georgette beaded gown in white, heavily beaded in toning colours by Des Brueres. Complete changes of frocks will take place on Wednesday and Friday, nights, and it is anticipated they will attract record audiences. The young ladies who so artistically displayed the creations were:— Misses T. Guy, A. Ridley, I. Mellor, 8.. Turner and R. Levy.
