The Department of 'Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated the 13th instant from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — Butter: —Market firm and improved demand owing to larger consumption and smaller Continental supplies. Opening at last quotations prices increased during this week, and market closed quiet at the higher level. Official quotations arc.-' —New Zealand, finest salted, 13th June, 178/- to 180/per cwt. (1/7 to \J 7J per lb): 6th June, .170/- to 174/- per cwt (l/6i to 1/G i per lb); 29th May, 164/- to 16S/. per cwt (1 /5A to 1/6 per lb): unsalted, 13th June, 184/- to 188/per cwt. (l/7i to 1/8): 6th June, 178/- to ISO/- per cwt (.1/7 to 1/7i); 29th May 176/- to 178/- per cwt (1/62 to 1/7 per lb); other qualities, 13th June,’ 148/- to 164/- per cwt. (1/32 to 1/51 per lb.; Danish: 13th June, ,190/. to 192/- per cwt (1/8J to 1/85 per lh.) Cheese: —Market firm and demand is good, principally owing to hot weather. Hemp.—Manila market improved this week. “J” grade June/August shipments and August/October shipments sold at £42, closing rates £4l 10/-. ’ Output of Manila from Ist January to Bth June, was 546,000 bales,.against 734,000 for same period last year. Stocks in Manila on Bth June, 185,000 bales against 166,000 last year. New Zealand market quiet and Fair offered at £33 10/-, June/ August shipments, with sellers hero .10/- less. Small business reported direct with Now Zealand in Highpoint fair at. £35 10/-. Fair in docks sold at £34.
