KEEN INTEREST AT MXRANTJIAt the invitation of the Miranui Football club, Messrs. A. Hannay (president of the Manawatu Rugby Union), A. W. Thompson and J. B. Proud journeyed to Shannon last evening-. The greatest interest was shown in the visit, over SO being present at the gathering, at which Mr. H. A. Seifert presided. A comprehensive address on the rules of the game was given by Mr. Thompson, whose remarks were supplemented by Messrs. Hannay and Proud. In the course of his remarks, Mr. Thompson congratulated the Club on its keenness and wished the same interest were shown by footballers generally in '((heir own district, when there would not bo the occasional antagonism between one section ana another. Mr. Hannay expressed the hope that on their next visit, the amalgamation of the Horowhenua and Manawatu Unions would he an accomplished fact, and that then they would all be members of One Big Union. The visitors were royally entertained by the club and conducted over the mills by Mr. Seifert.
