“HEIGH! HO!”

COME TO THE FAIR. An excellent attendance and rapid sales were the good fortune of the adherents of the Cuba Street Methodist Church yesterday, on the occasion of the opening - day of a fair, conducted in the Oddfellow’s Hall, in aid of the church re-building fund. The Ladies’ Guild and Church Trustees are put. ting their shoulders to the wheel, and their effort promises well. The fair was officially opened by the Mayor (Mr F. J. Nathan), the Rev PL T. Peat presiding. The hall presented a bright spectacle with its multi-coloured decorations and attractive wares and display. Stall-holders were as follows: Flowers, Mesdames Jorgensen, Campbell, Langford and Winton; artificial flowers, Mrs Johnson; cakes, Mesdames A. and J. Boniface, Perrin and Miss Jamieson; bran tub, Miss E. Harris; sweets. Misses E. Mildon, A. Johansen, E. Winton and B. Gupwell; food.stuffs, Mesdames Cobb, Christie and Anderson; soft drinks, Miss O. Woodley; produce, Mesdames Flatt, Burrell and Woodley; jumble. Mesdames Cole, Oliver, Budden and Wiseman; competitions, Young Men’s Bible Class.

The afternoon tea arrangements were in the hands of Mesdames Billens, Plodder, Morgan, Sanson and New dick.

A thriving business fell to the lot of Mr D. Collis, who conducted a meat stall on the corner of Bourko and Cuba Streets.

The function will be continued this afternoon and evening. Admission is free.

The fair opens again this afternoon and evening. Admission being free with music and competitions to enliven proceedings. The butcher's shop finds business brisk witlx its fine stock of prime Kairanga beef and mutton, also pork and poultry- Most of the customers are calling for their goods thus further helping the good cause, but ’phone orders over 5220 or 146 R are also being delivered within the Borough.
