MEETING AT MART ON. The bi-monthly me«ting of the Wanganui Presbytery was held. yesterday at Marton. There was a representative gathering. Rev Thos. •Miller, M.A. Moderator, presided. A welcome was extended by the Moderator to Revs. H. Beggs, Martin and H. H. Barton, Foreign Missionary Secretary, (Ministerial Changes. It was reported that Rev. H. Beggs had been duly inducted into St. Andrew’s Wanganui; that Rev. ‘Morrison Sutherland, had declined the call from Knox Church, Gonville. Notice was received of the Ordination of Rev. E R. Harries, to St. James, Auckland.

Rev, Wm. Ritchie. Rev. G. T Brown submitted a progress report r© negotiations being carried on between his committee and a sub-committee of the Beneficial y Fund Committee concerning the R® v - Wm Ritchie’s claim. The moderator of Plimmerton wrote in response to the Presbytery’s enquiry concerning summer sex-vices at that resort, pointing out the difficulty he had had in his efforts to establish a cause there. Ho had previously appealed to the Charges in the Wanganui Presbytery for assistance in building and equipping a Church, but had met with a most discouraging response. However, his plans were slowly maturing and he hoped before long to be able to establish a cause in Plimmerton. He appealed to the Presbytery to undertake the responsibility of providing an organ. On the motion of Rev. G. T. Brown, the matter was commended to the sympathy of the members of Presbytery with the suggestion that they might approach those members of their congregation, who should be interested, with the idea of raising a. fund for an organ for the Plimmerton Church, contributions or promises to be sept to the the treasurer of Presbytery, Rev. J. Wilson, Turakina. General. Presbytery examiners were appointed for the various grades in Scripture and Catechism for the next Sunday School examinations. It was decided to recognise Halcombs, Awahuri and Waiata, as a separate Home Mission Charge as from March 31st, 1924. On account of the coming of the General. Assembly to Palmerston North in November, it was resolved to write to the Home Mission Committee asking them to arrange for the next H. M. Summer Conference to be held at some centre other than Palmerston North,

Remits from the General Assem-i bly concerning Associate Ministers, Beneficiary Fund regulations, and Moderator’s powers were discussed and approved. The Horae Mission committee’s recommendation and Suscentation Fund regulations were referred until next meeting. A letter from the Assembly Temperance committee asking for the appointment of a Presbyterian committee, was received, but no action was taken. Foreign Missions. Rev. H. H, Barton gave a most interesting address upon the present position. of the Foreign Mission work in the New Hebrides, India and China, He stressed the increasing demands of the work in all these fields, and pleaded for a more intelligent interest and a greater enthusiasm as the only solution of the various problems. It was decided to hold the next meting of the Presbytery in Marton, on June 10.
