FROM LEAGUE COUNCIL. ■■■■ < - DANGER OF DISCOURAGING ASIATICS. ' EUROPE OVER-REPRESENTED. [By Electric Cable—Copyright] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] (Received 'Monday, 7 p.m.) GENEVA, Sept. 30, The election of Czecho-Slovakia, instead of China, as one of the six non-permanent members of the Council of the League of Nations for the ensuing year, which was due to the activity of th e Czecho-Slovakian representative, Dr. Benes, who is on the reduction of armaments committee, lias led to a protest by the Chines* delegation, which complains that the principle of the geographical distribution of non-permanent members has not been respected. The Council is deprived of the co-operation -of ai least one Asiatic State, and fears Far Eastern States may be discouraged, and hopes the possible consequent lack of interest in the League in China will not change into a temporary, or even a permanent abstention, which would be most regrettable, In th e interests of all. ,
