SMOKING CLERGY.
METHODISTS PERTURBED. LONDON .August 21. Commenting on the Newfoundland Methodist Conference's advertisement calling for six young men to enter the ministry, and stipulating that they should be non-smokers, the religious correspondent of the "Daily News" points out that theological non-smok-ers arc rapidly diminishing, even among Methodists, At the conference the smoking room was one of the most popular resorts for all classes of clergymen. If the Anglican Church adopted the ban three-fourths of the ministers would be affcoted_ Only the Salvation Army officers were denied the fragrant weed.
