FLOODS IN THE NORTH.
WAIKATO OVERFLOWS BANKS. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night. Floods are being experienced at Rangiriri, where the Waikato River has overflowed. The store and post office combined is practically surrounded, and if is possible to get by boat from buildings to the river. The road to the station is practically impassable far motors. The water is raising at Mercer, increasing about three and a-half inches on Monday, and that night many square miles were under water to a depth ranging from a few inches to several feet. No stock losses or cases of serious damngc were reported, but further rain may make conditions serious. A barge, containing ninety sacks of coal was washed away from its moorings at Firth's pumice mill, Ohinc-. wai, and has not been seen since.
