The Immigration Restriction Amendment Bill was read a. first time in the House ro-day. One of its provisions is that British .subjects by birth may enter New Zealand without taking- the oath of allegiance. A naturalised .subject wiii still have I'o take the oath, unless lib is under the age of lj years, or is a master of a vessel or a member of the crew. From these seafaring people a de-claration of nationality can bo demanded on pain of imprisonment or a line.
