FIRE BRIGADE SOCIAL CLUB.

The annual meeting of the PalmPrston North Fire Brigade Social Club was held last evening, Superintendent Barnard presiding.

The report prosented by the secretary, Mr A. E. Hi tellings, stated that five new members had joined, and five had resigned. Inspector Hugo inspected the Brigade on two occasions during the year, and reported favourably on the work executed. The Brigade responded to 39 calls by bell and 16 without, the attendance being good. The following members qualified for U.F.B.A. service honours: — Dep'uty-Supt. F. A. Milvcrton, add two years' bar, total 23 years; Firemen C. White and Dalton, 5-years medal; J. Marshall and P. Gaskin, 2-years medal, total 7 years. The various competitions of billiards, football, and cricket were greatly enjoyed and proved a groat success in creating a spirit of good fellowship among members of other brigades. The billiard championship was won by Deputy-Supt. P. A. Milvertoh for the fifth time. Members desire to thank the Fire Board for placing a gas-heater in the social room, also for their donation of £lB 10/. Donations received during the year amounted to £3S 3 0/, due to Messrs H. L. Young, Ltd., Y.M C.A., Tingey, Garner and Garner, Jensen, Woods, J. A. Nash, and Barnao Bros. During the year Supt. W. H. Barnard was elected president of the U.F.8.A.. and the best wishes o.f members were extended to him.

Officers were elected as follows: — Treasurer. Supt. Barnard; secretary, Mr E. Hitchings; auditor, Mr W. Hunter; committee, Firemen J. White, P, W. Gaskin, G. M. L. Dredge, and officers ex officio. The secretary was granted an honorarium of flO 10/ in view of his excellent services during the year.
