RUAPEHU ABLAZE
EXCITING SCENES IN DRY DOCK. [By Electric Cable—Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] LONDON, May 15. An exciting fire occurred aboard the New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Ruapehu, lying in dry dock at Blackwall. Two thousand tons of ammonia in the hold became involved. Firemen with gas masks succeeded in recovering two of the crew who were lying unconscious in the fumes. Mean, while fifteen motor engines and a thousand firemen were on the scene of the fire, which burnt furiously for four hours. The brigades prevented the vessel from becoming entirely in. volved by flooding her completely.
