Ritchie, land agent (Mr Oram) secured judgment against Amos Mullinger for £l7 10s, rent of a dwelling. Defendant, who was not represented by counsel, alleged that the house was not. worth the rent (35s per week), at which he had taken it. There were no conveniences and the place was full of borer. After a lengthy cross.examina. tion of plaintiff by defendant, the Magistrate ruled defcnGant had agreed to pay thc rent mentioned, and was therefore liable for it. His Worship made an order for thc amount stated with costs, £4 2s. JUDGMENT SUMMONS. T. Buick was ordered to. pay Manawatu Taxis, Ltd. (Mr Grant) £5 ISs 6d or spend seven days in gaol. R, Buckley has to pay A. E. Bennett (Mr Grant) £l3 4s Gd in weekly instalments of 10s or go to gaol for 14 days. Dr. Hooper (Mr Cooper) claimed £l9 16s from E. Napier. An order was refused.
