MIGHT GO OUT TO SEA.

SHANNON BRIDGE IN DANGER. FOXTON BOROUGH COUNCIL'S APPREHENSIONS. (From Our Own Correspondent.) U the Foxton Borough Council meeting on Monday night the Mayor (Mr Chrvstall) reported that the late flood had made a serious inroad on the bank of the river at the Shannon bridge and it was quite on the cards that another flood might take the bridge out to sea. The Horowhenua County Council had done nothing to protect this bridge and some strong action should be taken, as a bridge ol that nature would now cost from £lO 000 to £15,000. He moved that a fetter be written to the Minister ol Public Works forthwith, pointing out the exceedingly dangerous position of the Shannon river bridge and, if possible, making it mandatory on the controlling authority, the Horowhenua County Council, to carry out protective works, and thus prevent the said bridge being washed out to sea. The motion was carried.
