DEATH FOLLOWS STREET ACCIDENT. [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night. Patrick Albert Scarrott, an elderly man ,died in the hospital from injuries as the result of being 1 knocked down by a tram car in Newmarket on Saturday evening. MOTORING TRAGEDY. (Per Press Association.) TAUMARUNUI, Last Night. A motoring- accident, which resulted in the death of Mrs Elizabeth Riches, occurerd on Matapuna Road, about a mile from Taumarimui, yesterday afternoon. A party of five was returning from Piriaka after holding an evanagelistic meeting in that town,, when the car, whi,\h was driven by, Mr A. G. Riches, swerved and, running into soft metal on the road, turned completely over. Four of the occupants, Messrs A. G. Riches, W. McCann and N. Hyde, and Mrs Park, were thrown clear, but Mrs Riches was pinned underneath, and succumbed almost immediately.

Mrs Park, who is a daughter of deceased, and Mr McCann were injured and removed to hospital. Mr Riches has been a resident for many years in the King Country, and is well-known in farming circles.
