BOROUGH STREETS.
The practice of cutting away the footpaths and sloping them on the approach to gateways, was mentioned by Cr. McLeavey at last night's meeting of the council. He considered it a great danger to- pedestrians. He also referred to the narrowing of roads in some instances and suggested that the engineer be instructed to make an inspection. After brief discussion, it was decided that tire; whole council should inspect the borough roads on Thursday next,
