FOOTBALL.
OROUA SUB-UNION. KIMBOLTON 3 v. RANGIWAHIA 0. (From our own Correspondent.) This match was played at Kimbolton on Saturday last before a very fair attendance of the public, and resulted in a win for the home team by 3 points Rain commenced just as the teams took the field, and made the ground very greasy, the result being that good football was out of the question. The forwards on both sides battled hard, but the baeiks were unable to handle the ball to any extent. In the first half, J. Parsons scored a try for Kimbolton, which was unconverted, this being the only score of the match, although both sides went near to scoring on several occasions, the efforts being nullified through some of the players kicking too hard when near the line. Mr. Hessellinc had control of the game. CORYTON 8 v. KIWITEA ((. This match was played at Kiwitea. and after a very even struggle, the former proved the victors by the narrow margin of 2 points. Mr. A. J. Hib refereed, Cheltenham forfeited to Apili, WAITUNA v. KIWITEA. This was the match of the first round of the juniors of the Oroua Subunion, and resulted: Waituna, 12; .Kiwitea, 0. WHAKARONGA v PEILDING JUNIORS. This game was delayed for some time owing to the late arrival of the referee. The ground proved very sloppy, and lirst.class football was out of the question. The Fcilding backs handled th 0 wet ball much better than their opponents, and were also better in the loose work, Whakaronga t owing to their weighty having the best of the scrums. Even playing against the wind Fcilding had the belst of the game, and after several attacks Darragh carried the ball to the line and Wilson scored, Matthews adding the major points, Fcilding s—Whaka.5 —Whaka. ronga 0. Just before the end o.f the spell Whakaronga notched three points for a penalty goal owing to an infringement. The second spell was altogether in favour of Fcilding, Sullivan, Darragh, McConnachie, Patter, son and Rill scoring. Considering the state of the ground and the ball some of the passing rushes were very creditable, ''especially the one from which Patterson scored, the ball being handled by nearly all the Fcilding backs. Matthews kicked some difficult goals and missed the easy onos < and tne game resulted Fcilding 22, Whakaronga 3. FEILDING THIRDS v Y.M.C.A. This match was won by Fcilding lu the first spell Spoo.nor potted a goal and Harper scored a try, Benge converting. In the second spell Fcild. ing were awarded a kick for obstruction, and three more points were added. Fcilding 12—Y.M.C.A. nil.
