NOTICE TO MAKE RETURNS OP INCOME UNDER THE LAND AND INCOME TAX ACT, 1916. XTOTICE is hereby given that in pur- ■*-'* suance of the above Act and the Regulations made thereunder, every person and company, whether a taxpayer or not. having derived income within the meaning of the said Act •during the year ending March 31, 19 23, from any source or by any means which is made the subject of taxation under the said Act, is hereby required to make and furish to me, in the prescribed form, returns of such | income on or before the Ist day of | June, 1923. Returns of income are required to be furnished by all • companies and persons in business (including farmers), whether for the whole or part of the income year. They are also required from all persons in receipt of income from salary, wages, interest, rents, annuity, or other annual payment, where such income exceeds £250 per annumn. The returns are required annually from such persons notiwthstanding that by reason of the special exemptions allowable by law they may I not bo liable to pay tax. And, further, notice is hereby given that such returns shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings at Wellington. D. G. BY-LAWS, TT is hereby notified that at the Meeting of the Board of the Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power District, held on 9th day of April, 1923, the following resolution was carried: “That in pursuance of the powers, provisions and authorities contained in the ‘Electric Power Boards Act, 1918,’ and the amendments thereto and all other enabling powers, provisions and authorities contained in any other act, or otherwise vested In it, the Board of the Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power District hereby by Special Order makes and ordains the following By-Laws, and that such Special Order and By-Laws be. submitted for confirmation at a Meeting of the Board to be held at Palmerston North at 1.30 o'clock in the afternoon of the 14th day of May, 1923, at which Meeting the day of coming into force of these By-Laws shall be fixed, also that Copies of the proposed By-Laws be open for inspection at the Office of the Board and at the Office of the local Authority of each constituent district.”

The object and purpose of the proposed By-Laws is as follows: — (1) To govern Licensing of Contractors and Fitters. (2) To govern installations on consumers’ premises. (3) To generally govern supply of Electric Light and Power. Copies of the Proposed By-Laws are, and will till the 14th day of May, 1923, be, open to the inspection of the Public at the following places:— Office of Manawatu-Oroua Electric Power Board, Palmerston North. Office of Palmerston North Borough Council, Palmerston North. Office of Feilding Borough Council, Fellding. Office of Kairanga County Council, Palmerston North.
