WONDERFUL CONVERSION.
BANKRUPT AUCTIONEER SENTENCED, [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, Last Night. At the Supreme Court, the jury, after a retirement of three hours, returned a verdict of guilty against Percy W. Douglas, a bankrupt auctioneer, who appeared on nine charges of converting to his own use moneys amounting to £4OB 12/3. Mr. Justice Herdnmn said he would take info consideration prisoner’s previous good character, but. in the interests of business morality, he was bound to impose a sentence. Prisoner was sentenced to 12 months’ imprisonment with hard labour on each Charge, the sentences to be concurrent.
