EVIDENCE OP POLICE. [Bv Electric Cable —Copyright.] [Aust. and N.Z. Cable Association.] CAPETOWN, May 13. In the course of the evidence before the Martial Law Commission, Colonel Beer. Deputy-Commissioner of Police in the Free State, stated that during the progress of the strike secret meetings w;re held all over the Free State, and were addressed by speakers from the Rand. The situation became vsry serious, ,ts commandoes were projected at several places, and were only waiting- the word to rise. Women organised a commando at, Bloemfontein, but the Magistrates, together with General Hertzog, quashed the movement.
