TECHNICAL SCHOOLS
TEACHERS CONFER. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The annual conference of representatives of the New Zealand Technical School Teachers' Association opened to-dav, Mr R. J. Thompson (president) occupying the chair. Many districts are represented. In his presidential reaprt Mr Thompson said: "If we fail now to pay the premium demanded by a good and general educational system, we shall surely reap a harvest of hate, corruption, eonfusion and downfall." The annual report stated that there were at present approximately 170 members as compared with 73 in 1919. Regret was expressed that little headway appeared to have been made lowards the removal of disabilities In •regard to grading, under which the technical teachers still laboured. Attention was drawn to the fact that technical school teachers had no representation on the Council of Education. . The report was adopted.
