TIME WANTED.
Although the land In the Kairanga and other districts surrounding Palmerston North is of excellent quality, there is a limit to its productive capacity. It cannot go on producing, as it has done durng the last thirty or forty years, unless measures are taken to renew its vitality. There is hardly an acre of land in the district that does not require top-dressng. Phosphates and basic slag are being freely used, but what is urgently required is an adequate supply of cheap agricultural lime. Good limestone was recently discovered in the neighbourhood of DannevirkC', and it is understood that a company will be formed to work these deposits. There is limestone of marketable value, however, much nearer to Palmerston North than this. It is located in the Woodville Gorge. An effort was made two or three years ago to interest farmers in this held, but nothing practical resulted. The time has arrived when the farmers of the district should seriously prospect the Woodville Gorge deposits. By doing so, they would probably save themselves, hundreds of thousands of pounds. Will some eneregtic person take the Initiative in the matteo^
