RUGBY UNION.

- THE COMING SEASON. Mr A. M. Ongley presided at a largely-attended meeting of tho Manawatu Rugby Union last night. Tho secretary (Mr J. Proud) reported that ?9 teams of ail grades had applied for affiliation, and all these applications were granted, that of the Feilding Technical School conditionally en its being able to provide a playing area. A sub-committee, consisting of Messrs Ongley, J. R. Hardie and ! Proud, was delegated to form a deputation to the R.S.A. Club to ascertain whether it could guarantee to I play its team full strength throughout I nhe season. The following officials were ap- ! pointed:—Messrs Ongley and Carruthers, who were instructed to urge on the Union the remittance of the amusement tax on football gates. _ The Feilding Club made application for a grant of £SO for the erection of shelter sheds.—£2s was granted in the meantime, for the provision of conveniences. The Bunnythorpc Club applied for the reinstatement of two disqualified players. —These were asked to attend the next meeting of the Union. The Manawatu Referees' Association was allotted a first instalment of £ls as travelling expenses of its mombeThc tender of Mr D. Watson for the ! lighting and wiring of the traininghall was accepted. Accounts amounting to £8 15/ rrero, I passed for payment. Tho secretary was authorised W; have 200 copies of the Rugby rules printed for circulation. Prices for admission to cup matches during the season were fixed at 1/ for. adults, ladies and children free. Mr H.
