YVOODVTLI/E. In the WoodviJle A. and P. Asisociatlon's milking competition, Mr R. : C. Leach's grade Jersey cow Blackle came first, with 50.74 points; Mr A. !C. Lovelock's cow Corner Fairy second, jwith 44.57 points; Mr H. R. Benbow's I Jersey cow Sandy third, with 41.1 it 'points. For the greatest weight of I milk Mr R. C. Leach secured the special prize with his cow Blackie; weight of milk, 61.51b5. In the heifer class, Mr 11. R. Benbow's heifer Streamlet came first, with 30.89 points; Mr R. C. Leach's Miss Blackie second, with 28.81 points, and Mr 11. R. Benbow's heifer Clematis third, with 2G.97 points. All the above were Jersev heifers. The president of the association (Mr W. H. Gaisford) complimented Mr Lench on the performance of his cow Blackie in the milking competition. He considered it was a great achievement for a cow llfteen years of age. He suggested that an age limit be put on Blackie, as it was a very expensive item supplying cups. Mr Leach, in replying, said Mr Gaisford would be well advised to buy Blackie.

The Coronation Swimming Baths will be open for the season from Friday, 23rd December.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual school treat was held in the Domain on Wednesday, 21st, in pleasant weather. There was a large attendance of boys and girls, parents and friends. The committee and the teachers did their best to give the children and friends a good time, and they succeeded in doing so. Before the prize-giving, Mr H. Dixon, on beh-alf of the settlers and parents, made a presentation of a fountain pen to Mr Currie, as a slight recognition of his liftoen years of service on the school committee; as chairman he was always at his post and his retirement was much regretted last vear. Mr Currie gave liberally, money time and work for the benefit of the school. Mr Currie was heartily cheered and he responded and thanked his friends for their appreciation. Mr Dixon before giving the prizes to the children, said that those who had not obtained prizes yet had worked well, had gained the great prize of knowledge. Several essays were sent in by boys in the senior classes on the subject, "How to Produce a Good Crop of Potatoes." The first prize was awarded to Gordon Duthie, and the second to B. Thomas.
