MOTOR-RACING.

NOTES. (By "The Fan.") By the time these notes appear all the riders, who are going, will be on the various routes to the Opotiki meeting which takes place on Boxing Day. Len Maugham and Percy Coleman will certainly be there to carry on the old argument about Harley v. Indian, and more than likely Jock Sweeney will be there with the "pine, apple" Harley also. Results will be wired to the "Times" by special reporter. This season's racing promises to be really good. Len Mangham, Jack Sweeney and Harry Mangham will comprise the Harley team: Percy Coleman, Jim Dawber and Stratton, of Levin will represent the Tndian wigwam, and Steve Whitehead (Ham. ilton), Bell and Campbell will send the Bix N along. It looks as though the big machines were coming back into their own. Certainly racing was very tame without them. Riders, who had a flutter on Whitehead's Big X at Hamilton, say that slio has tremendous power and will tike a lot of stopping in the big races this year. The Indian mounts will be quite new out here. Two 3* h.p. machines have been sent over from Australia. Jim Dawber will show some of the colts how a Hi h.p. 4-valve can travel at Awapuni, and the other 3* will go into the hands of Stratton. Percy Coleman will ride the new Daytona Indian which will arrive in January. This machine has a great record in Hie States and it should do well here. The motor-club, at a recent meeting, resolved upon a much tighter control of the racing at Awapuni on January -". This should make for the improvement of the sport and this season's fixture should be a memorable one.
