DANNEVIRKE The Town Hall was crowded on Friday night by an enthusiastic audience to witness the children’s concert. The stage was beautifully decorated to represent a rural scene, and it provided a fine setting for the many charming action and character songs. The children acquitted themselves splendidly, reflecting great credit on the promoters, notably Misses Danvers, Harding and Watson, who worked very hard to train the performers, and design the costumes worn. Three outstanding features of the entertainment were "Fairies and Flowers,” "The Moon Boat,” and “Three Green Bonnets.” Little Miss Treve Bissell made a successful hit with her character song, "If I were Huckleberry Finn.” A company of girl and boy glee singers from the North School under the conductorship of Mr E. Bissell, headmaster, rendered several good selections. During the interval the Rev. Richards spoke a few words to the audience on the object of the concert, and then called upon the Mayor (Mr Anderson) to present the prizes to the successful winners of the “programme designing” competition. The proceeds of the concert are to be devoted to the Methodist Sunday 'School building fund.’ A cricket team representing South School A played a match against North School B on Saturday morning, resulting in a win for the North by 12 runs.
