SATURDAY COMPETITION CONTINUED. Three senior games were concluded and two junior games were commenced on the Sportsground on Saturday afternoon, while two junior games were also played on the pitches provided at the High School grounds. The wickets were all in splendid order, and, judging by the bowling averages, the bowlers had a day out. Randell, playing for Old Boys against R.S.A., secured the best average of the day by taking seven wickets for 10 runs. High School and Railway gained three point wins from their respective opponents, Midland and Oroua, while Old Boys, by defeating R.S.A., secured a two point win. Although the junior grade produced only mediocre expositions, there were, nevertheless, several good batting and bowling averages notched. After considerable delay, one pitch was provided on the new playing area, adjoining the Oval, and the junior match—Y.M.C.A. v. All Saints—was played there. Although the surface of the new ground hi not too good, a fair amount of roiling will make it excellent for playing upon. SENIORS. HIGH SCHOOL V. MIDLAND, When time was called High School had a substantial lead of 58 runs from Midland, and as both teams had had two innings, School secured a welldeserved three-point victory. Midland registered 103 and 134 in their first and second innings respectively, to Which School retaliated with 246 and 109 for eight wickets.
