A DVICE has been received from the High Commissioner for New Zealand in London that the Waimana and Shropshire, due to arrive on the 30th instant and 7th proximo respectively are bringing the following numbers of skilled workers, all of whom will require tobe placed in employment by this Department:—Acetone welder (1),-baker (1). blacksmiths (9), bookbinder (1) bootmakers (G), bricklayer (1), butchers (8), carmen (4), carpenters and joiners (15), carters (3), caulkers (2), chemist (1), clerks (16), coachbuilder (1), cooks (2), coremaker (1), cotton operator (1), electricians (11), engineers (17), farm labourers (194), fishermen (1), fitters and turners (56), gardeners (10), grocers (4), horsemen (2), hotel workers (3), ironmongers (2), knitter (1), labourers (72), linesman (1), mechanics (mostly motor) (3S), miners (4), motor drivers (4), optician (1), packers (2) painters (8),--plumber (1), printer (1), saddlers (3), shop assistants (4), stationer (1), stokers (S), stonemason (1), storekeepers (3), tailors (4), teacher (1), timber workers (5). traction driver (1), travellers (3), upholsterers (2), waiter (1), warehousemen (4), wireless operator (1), etc., etc., etc., etc. Your co-operation is urgently required in placing these workers. Please therefore communicate your requiromnts to the UNDER-SECRETARY, DEPARTMENT OF IMMIGRATION, G.P.O. Box 313, WELLINGTON, without delay, stating nature of work, wages, conditions, and whether accommodation is provided, and in case of married couples, whether children may live in. CONSIDER what it means to a man to be told that there is a job awaiting him—then write. (N.B. —Applications for domestics are not solicited; the present demand is already in advance of the supply).
