The much vexed question of xepresentation on the Power Board for this district wav considei’ed by the Borough Council at its meeting last evening. A letter was received from the Minister of Public Works, stating that owing to the possibility of a deadlock arising in connection with the representaton and formation of an Electric Power Board for the district, he has decided to convene a conference of all local bodies concerned to be held at Feilding during, the first week in April, and asking that three delegates x-epresent the Council. —The Mayor said, he understood that the Oroua Provincial Power Board had taken umbrage at the decision of the Minister, that the representation should be as stated by Mr Birks:— Palmoi’ston North Borough Council 3, Kairanga County Council 2. Manawatu County Council 2, Oroua County Council 2. .Feilding Borough Council and Klwitea and Pohangina County Councils one each. They had complained, with the result that the Minister was going to meet the Provisional Board and had asked that the seven representatives of the Manawatu. Kairanga * and Palmerston should be present. Cr. Crabb: Will the Minister be there?—The Mayor: Yes, he-will preside.—Cr. Crabb: If the Minister is going to be there it will be all right. The tail would be wagging the dog: if the Minister were not there. He moved that the Mayor, Cr. Eliott and himself be appointed to attend the meeting.—The Mayor: And add that tRe Minister be informed that subject to the voting power of the conference being as set out by Mr Birks, that we agree with the proposal.—The motion amended as suggested by the Mayor was carried.
