A BAN ON BEAUTY.
Princess Nadia Troubctskoy, described as tire “most beautiful Red Cross nurse in Europe.” who is concerned in a divorce action, would not (says the “Daily Express”) have been permitted to nurse American soldiers from the Northern States during the Civil War. In the list of regulations issued by the Union Government regarding the employment of military nurses it was stipulated that “no woman under 30 years of ago need apply to serve in Government hospitals. All nurses are required to be very plain-looking worn ;n. Their dresses must bo brown or black, with no bows, no curls, or jewellery, and no hoop skirts.”
