KEEN DEMAND FOR ALIi STOCK. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. At the Addington market the demand for all sections of stock, excepting store sheep, was keen in both beef and mutton. It was quite up to last week's high standard of values. Store sheep: An increased yarding, the quality not being so good as last week. The bulk were hoggets, which were in weaker demand. Twotooth wethers 32/6 to 32/10, inferior 2 and 4-tooth wethers 31/2 to 33/. good 6 and 8-tooth wethers 35/6 to 36/5, good 4 and 6-tooth wethers 35/ to 37/3, sound and failingmouthed ewes and lambs (all counted) 22/4 to 26/1, aged ewes with lambs 18/9 to 22/8, fairly good half-bred ewe hoggets 32/9 to 35/, inferior to medium ewe hoggets 24/6 to 27/9, fairly good half-bred wether hog-gets 24/6 to 28/. mixed sex hoggets 26/ to 29/. Lambs: Seventy spring lambs were forwarded, and sold tit from 32/6 to 44/. Fat sheep: The yarding was barely sufficient for the butchers' weekly requirements. The market opened a shade weaker, but firmed up as the sale progressed, and was a shade better at the close than last week. Extra prime wethers 56/ to 78/, prime wethers 47/9 to 55/9, medium wethers 42/ to 46/9, light and unfinished wethers 32/ to 41/3, shorn wethers 33/3 to 38/, extra prime ewes 54/, prime ewes 41/6 to 46/6, medium ewes 36/3 to 40/, light and unfinished ewes 25/3 to 32/, shorn ewes 29/9, hoggets 31/9 to 36/6. Fat cattle. The bulk of the yarding was medium to prime; values were fully up to last week, beef costing the butchers about £4 per 1001b throughout. Extra prime steers £35 12/6 to £4O, prime steers £2B 10/ to £35, medium steers £23 15/ to £27 17/6, light and unfinished £l6 15/ to £22 15/, prime heifers £29 12/6, ordinary heifers £ls to £l7 10/, light and unfinished £ll to £l4, prime cows £l9 to £2O, ordinary cows £ls 10/ to £lB 12/6, light and inferior £lO 10/ to £l4 15/. Vealers: An overproportion of inferior and newly dropped calves was presented, and were not in demand. Runners to £B, good vealers £7 15/, medium calves £4 2/6, inferior calves £2 5/. Store cattle: Most of the entry was young stuff in poor condition, but a much improved sale eventuated. Yearlings £3 5/ to £4, 2-year-old steers £7 to £8 2-year-old heifers £7 15/. empty cows £9 5/, bulls to £l2. Dairy cows: The demand for anything showing milking strains was keen. Fourth calvers to £26 5/, second and third calvers £l3 to £l6, springing heifers £9 to £IS 15/. Fat pigs: the strong values of last week were scarcely maintained. Choppers £S to £l4, light baconers £6 10/ to £7 10/. heavy baconers £S to £S 5/, extra heavy baconers £9 S/. Average price per lb. 1/1 to 1/I*. Light porkers £4 8/ to £5 10/, heavy porkers £5 15/ to £6. Average price per lb, 1/3 to 1/3 J. Store pigs: Another big yarding and a keen demand. Best stores £4 17/ to £6, medium stores £3 10/ to £4 10/, small stores £2 10/ to £3 5/. weaners £2 to £3 2/6, sow with litter £26.
