A VESSEL FOR FOXTON.

In pursuance of its meeting on Tncsdav the Chamber of Commerce 4S :V »,.«*.! meeting of busmen men vest erdav, over which Mr H-B. Young presided, to further consider the pronosal of the Foxton Haibour Board to form a company to purchase a .steamer and enter into the Welling-ton-Foxton trade. At the previous meeting Mr .1. TJnklater- chairman of the Board, had explained that a suitable boat was under otfer at tJOO °- It was essential that something should be done to effect a recovery of the trade, which had decreased vnta alarming rapidity during the past lew years. Mr .7. Linklater further reported as to the cost, of running the boat and the probable profit. Mr \' 11. Sinclair said there would be plenty of freight offering if the port could be guaranteed. Many business people preferred to have their goods railed because ot the rough handling at Foxton. and consequent 10 ’m'i Linklater said that the Board was doing everything in its power to remedy this, and now had a man specially appointed to look after the un loading. , .. After further discussion it \vas decided that the chairman and Mr Linklater approach Mr Grant Sim m matter of getting the company floated.
